The previous evening HODINKEE co-facilitated an intriguing occasion with the Horological Society of New York, to commend free watchmaking and the colossal Kari Voutilainen. The room was humming with kindred watchmakers, gatherers and lovers alike, all eager to meet and hear Mr. Voutilainen talk.

Benjamin Clymer drove the Q&A, beginning at 8 p.m., where he and Mr. Voutilainen talked about his adolescence long for working with his hands and being autonomous and how he figured out how to accomplish this through commitment, diligent work, and tirelessness. The discussion was exciting and the room was quiet with expectation – that is until inquiries were opened up to the floor and the conduits opened.
